The g80 is dressed to impress starting with the foundation. It has the same rear drive platform as that equally new gv80 suv. Now, about 19 of this four door's body is made of aluminum, which helped trim about 275 pounds compared to its predecessor. Accordingly, in its lightest form, the g80 weighs around '57 pounds while a fully loaded example clocks in at a claim, 4497. two engines will be offered in this luxury sedan serving base duty is a 2.5 liter turbocharged, four cylinder that should be good for 300 horsepower and 311 pound feet of torque, now that's, more biscuits and gravy than the entry level engines in cars, like the a6 5 series and e class can muster. Of course, if you want more, genesis will also offer a 3.5 liter twin turbocharged v6 that packs a wallop 375 horsepower and '1 pound feet of torque. Now, no matter the engine they're both bolted to an eight speed automatic transmission. Fortunately, though, aft of the gearbox, you do get a little bit of choice, because either engine is offered with rear or all wheel. Drive genesis has not shared any performance figures, but given this car's output and weight, the g80 will probably accelerate like an e class hitting 60 miles per hour in around 6 seconds, with the base engine and probably less than 5, with the v6. As for economy, the 4 cylinder rear drive pairing should be the most economical returning 23 miles per gallon in city driving 32 on the highway and 26 mpg combined pop open the door and it's immediately obvious just how serious genesis is about competing in the luxury segment.
This car's interior is beautiful. The dashboard is simple, yet sculptural those front bucket seats are comfortable and very adjustable. This car's carefully stitched leather is gorgeous. The wood trimmings are lovely and you have got to appreciate that knurled pattern they use on various interior elements immediately ahead of the driver is a 12.3 inch. Digital instrument, cluster pretty standard these days, but what you're, far more likely to notice is the infotainment screen which clocks in at a whopping 14 and a half inches like a parrot on a pirate's shoulder it's perched proudly atop the dashboard. So it should be both easy to see and use expect plenty of tech in the genesis. G80 things like smart cruise control, with machine learning, blind spot collision avoidance, assist and even automatic smart park. Engineers paid plenty of attention to nvh, that's noise vibration and harshness to suppress unwanted racket. The g80 features acoustic glass on the windshield and sides, the door seals have been improved, the power trains are better insulated and the car rolls on sound, reducing wheels. The g80s trunk is generously sized, though its back seat. Doesn'T seem particularly spacious. Oh well, i guess you can't win every battle, bringing the fight to germany, a rear, wheel, drive four cylinder. 4 cylinder g80 kicks off at just about 48 725 dollars, including 1025 bucks in delivery fees, but underscoring its value proposition, highlighting it in bright, yellow that price undercuts its major german rivals by thousands.
Now, if you want more, you go for a top of the line. V6 model, with all wheel, drive you're, probably going to be spending right around 70 grand. Initially, this luxury sedan was supposed to go on sale in the u.s this summer, but, like so many automotive introductions, it got torpedoed by the nasty coronavirus pandemic.
