BMW M5 1000hp v £1.15M Rallycross Racers: RACE…and EXPLOSION!

Firstly, i forgot my mask so i've got a brandywine brand everything. Why are you wearing a mask that you look like you're about to paint a car? No i'm not i'm, just going to remove someone's asbestos it's nice that we're together, it's, no reflection on you and how like full of germs, you might be i've – got the full fp3 anyway what's going on here. Why am i in the back of a bloody car and you're in the front of it and by the way, move your seat forward? I'M. Actually gon na come back no don't, don't i'm lucky i've got such short legs like a normal. Someone with a normal, like torso to leg ratio would be struggling back here, but i'm, actually just about okay, so what's happening right. So i'm in the bmw evolve. M5. I'M, so excited you haven't driven this yet so this is one of the fastest cars i've driven and it's, one of the fastest cars we've ever had on car wow tuned. In five. Four point: four lead to twin turbo v8. It had a stage two tune on it. It did 800 horsepower, then evolvers tuned it again with forged pistons and all that kind of stuff. It'S now got a thousand horsepower it's nuts, so we thought we'd write something a little bit different with it and we have some rallycross cars over there. Next to me is a british rally. Cross car it's got a 2 litre, turbocharged petrol engine with 550 horsepower and around 600 to 700 newton meters of torque sequential racing gearbox weighs in at 1300 kilos what one of those that's about 150 000 pounds this car 120 000 pounds with the stage three tune Evolve has got on it, thirty thousand pounds so about the same price as that racing car, though next to that, though, is a world rally.

Cross kites mini two litre, turbocharged petrol engine 600 horsepower this time and a thousand newton meters of torque. That is a little bit more expensive, that's six hundred thousand pounds for that. One then, on the far side i don't know if you can see it yanny one of my favorite cars ever it's, a ford rs200 it's, a retro rallycross car, so that's got 500 horsepower and it's got around 750 newton meters of torque from its 2.1 liter turbo Charged cosworth engine now that's, quite a rare car. It costs you about 400 000 pounds for one of them wow. Now the poor guy. In that car, though, he's got an old fashioned, five speed manual gearbox and he has to do like clutch changes, whereas the other two have racing gearboxes sequential. So they should be. Fine. We'Ve got an automatic which is good it's a bit wet, but we've got four wheel. Drive they've got four wheel drive, they are going to get off the line quick. I know you get off the line. Quick, do you reckon we're going to beat them? They weigh nothing 1300 kilos. This is two tons and then with us in it that's another rvu by the way, one ton no seriously 18 stone. Oh, i can only do like metric i'm i'm. Like 72 kilos. I am yeah but you're. Like five foot. I'M. Actually the mini came past. It was between us and the many at the end. I think we got the yellow car, also known as a ford fiesta british rallycross car, the white one, the rs200. I don't think he was in it. No definitely the yellow one kicked off. First, the mini overtook it and it was us two right at the end. It was close, no idea very close. Are we doing it again? I want to do it again, let's head back, so then yanny what exactly happened? Well, we got a good start, but the yellow car really pulled away quicker. The mini caught at the end and we were gaining continuously a bit more. We definitely win directly and we won it. It was close, very close, that's, not an answer. Is it uh, i'm gon na say no? We did. It then looks like something's on fire over there. Oh dear, i think the rs 200 oh it's on fire we've got a fire brigade i'm. Blaming you don't, blame me it's, not the exhaust steve it's, nothing! There! I'M gon na take the safety let's go and have a little look. Oh he's got on he's smiling, but he's, giving it a thumbs down gone. Okay was that because it was just waiting too long, it did sit there yeah, it was getting hotter and hotter and hotter whoosh. You think the turbo's gone yeah there's bits of metal are coming out. The exhaust obviously it's only the turbo.

So is this normal for things to break like this? I only do four hours in the engine between rebuilds valves. Where were we, how many hours have you clocked up on that one uh we're about 12 minutes into the engine? I just went no, no just been rebuilding barbados. Oh no and you didn't even win if it's any consolation stop laughing if it's any consolation. I love the look of that thing it's, so so gorgeous, even when it's like got smoke coming out of its tail fight. Okay, let's, head back and we'll do another race, but i don't think you're going to be taking part in it. I went too early all right. Let'S go! Oh my god. It'S twitching out come on come on. Oh he broke. Why did he break? I think you jumped that one, but it doesn't matter. Let'S let's it'll be too busy. Looking forward to have known that yeah we won't say that. Why did he break? Do you know what it is? They don't go faster than like 130 miles an hour or something so he's hit 113.. Oh and it's, just like that's it let's head back and find out what exactly happened: that time we've had a bit of a development, the rallycross guys weren't so happy that you jumped the lawn. I did something like listen. I know usually i'm, like no. No all right, she did jump, but i said, as i pulled across, i jumped it anyway.

They'Ve got a refuel because they do about half a mile per gallon. So i think it's only fair that i now drive because i'm a little bit more restrained, so swap seats. One minute 37 seconds later put the seat forward. Can you get in put the seat forward? You little short ass. There go on it's all right. Put the seat forward come on i'm, going to set the passenger side put the seat forward. Much much much later. I ain't got tiny little legs like you. I need to put the sleep forward anyway to reach the bed awesome right. I'M, going to warm up my tires all right, oh god am i sitting in the back for this yeah. Have you got your seatbelt on no you've got your um. Your phone in your hand, because you're flying hold on hold on this is more skillful. How do you feel feel good? You feel a bit stick! Don'T you just a little! Oh enough, it's horrible in it all right! Let'S! Do this! Oh sorry, i'm! Getting a bit excited! Oh you see! When you have a professional driving peony, you get the win. So then, what exactly happened? While the team bmw completed the standing quarter mile in 10 seconds dead, the mini came second crossing the line in 10.3 seconds, and the ford was third taking 10.5 seconds. Now we gave a break test from 70 miles an hour when we reach the line. Full emergency stop come on get level mini level.
