Car Vs. Truck: What’s Best Off-Road? We’re Putting SEVEN Off-Roaders To The Test! TFL Fleet Update

Is it a car or a truck? So in this video i'm going to show you the vehicles that we're taking and we're going to take we're going to talk about what else is here at the office. But let's start with this. This is, of course, our fj cruiser that's one of the vehicles and the plan for the series is to actually take three quote: unquote: cars right, tommy, yeah, car isn't that they don't have a bed, but this is a proper suv and then three trucks, yeah three Trucks and then take them into the deep dark wilderness of moab and pick one winner, so yeah it's, logistically it's very difficult and we're just getting everything ready so that we can actually head over to moab. So we don't have all the cars here. So that was one of them: the fj cruiser we're, also bringing the defender and the modified forerunner as well, which is pretty cool, but we've got more stuff going around the office this week, like this check this out, this is the kia k5, but this one's cool, Because this is the all wheel, drive gt line, so nathan's going to be doing a bunch of stuff with the new k5 yeah he's going to be uh. Doing a lot of the car reviews, while tommy myself and andre head over to moab to do the uh off roading, so let's show them what vehicles we're gon na be off roading and uh.

No, there are two tommy don't. You give them a walk around yeah. So we've got our ford f, 150 raptor, the 2020 raptor. This is a proper desert truck, but what's next to it is going to be an interesting comparison. This is the jackal. This is a silverado that a company called pax power has supercharged. They have lifted. They'Ve. Put on these insane king shocks, of course, the big bumper here uh chevy doesn't build a competitor to the raptor, so these two are going to go head to head along with. No, not that. Definitely not that, but the new um trx there yeah we've got the new trx, so that's going to be the truck contingency of the off road video, so it's going to be first trx versus jackal versus raptor and then we're going to pick a winner from those And then we're going to do defender versus we've got a really cool, uh um foreigner that's lifted by our friends at toy tech coming with a supercharger and then of course, uh the defender, uh and then we'll pick a winner from that and then we're gon na Pick which of those winners is the best off roader, so the idea is what's. The best off roader car versus truck is a car or is a truck and out of those which one is the best. So hopefully, by the end of this week we will know what other vehicles we have here – tommy well we're, also going to somehow throw the gladiator in there too, so that's going to be a quite a different comparison um.

So this is a lot a tester for this week. This is the uh, the nissan altima, and i think this one is all wheel drive. They just dropped it off, let's see. Ah there you go all wheel, drive and somewhere around. Here too, we also have the new honda accord as well so we're going to have three mid size, sedans shoot out between the accord the ultima and the kia what's going on with these old trucks. They are doing well. Actually, so we've got the f 150 here. Um that one's hanging in there well there's cases truck and then, of course, there's the ram uh. The ram is doing well. Um also we've been using this one, a lot, probably more than the other two, because it actually has the rear doors which turns out is very handy but um. These three cheap trucks have been driven more recently than the trx and the raptor that's, because it's got good tires. It'S been snowing here, a lot. We actually have good tires on the thing it does have good tires now. This is something i'm really really excited about. This is the new toyota mirai it's, probably the rarest car in colorado right now, because this car runs off of hydrogen that's right it's, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, so hydrogen goes into three tanks at 10, 000. Psi is then sent to the fuel stack which sits about here and that combined with oxygen in the air to create electricity which drives the rear, wheels and the by product is water you're, probably wondering how do we fill it up with hydrogen dad? You want to explain that yeah we don't uh let's, go this way.

Tommy uh toyota was kind enough to actually send it to us full of hydrogen, because right now, the only place in colorado that you can actually get hydrogen is not available to the public, which is crazy right and when we say send, like literally showed up on A truck yeah, they yeah, they didn't, drive it here, but they did or they were kind enough to actually let it lend it to us with a full tank of hydrogen and then we're going to ship it back to california, because if you want a hydrogen car, Really only los angeles and san francisco are where you could get it, but tommy. I got to tell you, i am super excited about this week, going to moab uh, comparing all these different vehicles and seeing which is the best off roader. What do you think is going to win now? We did, we can tell you one thing we did actually come on with me. We did something that was kind of interesting. We wanted to find out on paper right, which one is the best, and so we spent the whole morning going over criteria to figure out kind of which, if you're looking at it. Just from a numbers point of view and very objective numbers point of view, which one uh is the winner and why don't we show them what we came up with and well. I should give you the winner already, because we already know the winner on papers.

Let me tell you why it's on yeah, so the idea was that we could um basically come together and and create what we think is going to be the results based on what happens on paper so, for example, value and price mpg, we're, not really sure about. But we have a pretty good guess on how that's going to turn out the foreigners last because it's supercharged and lifted um with big tires let's show them what we got so value in price, that's, pretty straightforward right! So uh! You know each one gets a point. Uh each one gets points based on where they fall right, so the cheapest of them is the fj because we bought that for 33 000. So that gets six points. The next cheapest is the gladiator uh 70 000, with the mods, then of course defender 71, 475, raptor, 77 and trx 77. So that's. How points are aside so the most expensive gets one point. The least expensive get six same thing with mpg right uh. So, on paper release, if you look at what the epa says, the defender gets the best fuel economy. Then the raptor then the gladiator, then the fj. Then the trx and we're kind of guessing at this because once again, it's lifted with a supercharger. But i think that's pretty much right: uh ori that's the tfl right square. You want to show them what that is over there. Well it's. Basically, we've got a whole bunch of categories that rate a vehicle based on approach, angle, departure angle, the ground clearance, diff, lock, skid plates all that, and when you look at the ori, this is crazy.

Now yeah because towing uh, the defender, kills in the towing it toes. I want to say 8700 trx, toes 8 100 raptor toes 8 000. What is the jeep total? I think defender is actually 82 yeah. Jeep is seven, and then these like five ish, yeah uh and then of course, payload. The defender kills as well. I think it's got over 2 000 pounds, which is incredible. Yeah the trx is 1300. I think this is wrong. I think that these are need to be flipped. We'Ll have to adjust that right, but you did all the numbers so on paper, when you assign the points which vehicle ends up winning the defender, because it's got so much towing, it's got so much payload and it should be the most efficient in this group, which Is kind of an interesting result yeah, and so what we're going to do is we're going to go to moab now we're actually going to run obstacles and take them into the dirt and we're going to find out if what is on paper is really true. When the dirt hits the tire and that's what we're going to be doing that's, why i'm so excited all right, so we got more stuff going on here. This is the new panamerica right there. Look at that let's get you a cooler one. The orange is the cool one there's, the special so that's supposed to be, like the mean wgs fighters, yeah they're, taking on bmw's gs, they're taking on ducati's multistrada they're, taking on ktm's 1290 super adventure taking on pretty much all the big adventure, bikes, wow, crazy, yeah And then the other thing that will be hold on that was just introduced. That was like an hour ago that was just introduced and alex is editing the video.
