Thanks to our viewer, adam c, we have some special footage of the new 2022 gmc hummer ev truck prototype caught in moab, but it may not be what you think initially, because this prototype truck all electric hummer is actually in the city, but we get to see Its suspension and actually four wheel steering actually work in real life, so thank you adam for sending this let's check out the video and figure out what's going on here. So let me run this as you can see well by the cliffs. In the background, this is indeed moab and adam is driving his vehicle. It looks like this is his dash cam and, if i'm, not mistaking by looking at adam's hood. This might be an h3 hummer, an older one that he's driving. But here we see this white truck prototype and once again, these trucks are early prototype test vehicles. They don't have all the body components on them. They don't have all the lights uh, you know production based lights, but see everything is functional. You can kind of see the tailgate, um and it's gon na be a very similar to the multi pro tailgate in the gmc sierra trucks, where it kind of double folds and offers you a step. I actually have a video on tfl offroad channel, where i give you a detailed walk around of the edition one hummer, but here you can see it kind of accelerated on the main street and moab uh.
Of course, we know this area very, very well, because we visit moab quite frequently during the year for different video projects and also to see a lot of different off roaders and i'm. Hoping hummer team is there to actually go and take it on the trail or many many trails and actually see how this prototype actually works in the wild, so while we're kind of still chasing it, what are the specs on the first edition? Well, the first edition track is going to be super powerful or here's it's pulling into another drive through. So this is getting real world perspective of this truck 1000 horsepower height, adjustable suspension three motors two in the back one in the front, uh four wheel, steering that i'll show you in a second uh, a close up view of it and it's going to be available. This year, so 2021 gmc is still promising that the pickup truck version of the hummer is going to be available. The first ones edition one trucks they're going to be quite expensive to begin with about 112 000 price, with all the options and all of the features and technology and power that i was just talking about three seconds: zero to 60 accelerations, technically, with their special watts. To freedom mode, so let's see it pull up there, it is there there's another view, um one. You can see kind of the removable panels. Um the windows on this truck are actually tinted.
You can see kind of the marker lights and the roof. It is a really wide vehicle and when i saw it in person in michigan uh, it was pretty impressive. The the wheelbase is quite large about 135 inches in length for the wheelbase itself. So it's, not quite you know the same as a full size. Half ton, crew, cab truck but it's still sizable and it can have up to about 16 inches of ground clearance from 10 inches. So that's kind of the travel of the air suspension overall about 13 inches of travel overall up to down to up, and you can kind of see in this image. Actually the rear suspension is independent and, of course, it's independent. All the way around it's, using their latest ultim battery technology battery packs and should have in this form 24 modules. They don't have exactly the numbers of kilowatt hours at the capacity of the battery, but we're guessing at about 200 kilowatt hours and they say range driving range will be about 350 miles. Plus you can see also in this image. It looks like the rear view. Camera mirror is on. I can kind of see it in this kind of a dusk area, a little bit dark surrounding so that's going to be available too. It has a hitch, we don't know exactly how much it will tell we don't know the payload numbers. Gmc hasn't announced them, yet we don't know the towing range.
You know once you put the trailer behind it, we're not quite sure exactly what it will do, but look at this uh it's a real world look at the hummer. I wish this would have been on a trail somewhere, maybe held revenge or something like that. Actually showing the truck in motion, but i promised you the look at the four wheel steering so let's go to this part, so this is in the windy's parking lot. I believe, and the line is too big he's backing up. You can kind of see the rear tires, moving in unison with the fronts, and you can kind of see up to 10 degrees. They say of actual uh steering in the rear to help the front and look at this. He went around this uh. What is that? The toyota went around the toyota very easily um. It looks to be a very maneuverable truck, at least in the city setting, and that should, of course help it also in off road situations with tight maneuvers. It also has that crab walk where it can kind of drive diagonally with the front and the rears actually steer in the same direction, not the opposite direction, but wait. There is more adam sent us actually two clips check this out. This looks to be the morning. Uh, maybe the next day, maybe the previous day – i'm, not quite sure, i'm still adam still his truck right here and it appears sorry.
Let me move this. It appears that that hummer truck went to the same mcdonald's drive through at least twice or at least adam uh captured them. There twice uh that's kind of well humorous, but everybody got ta eat right. I'M, not i'm, not saying you. Don'T have to eat i'm. Just saying that it's pretty funny that this truck or maybe a sec because there's supposed to be two of them uh these trucks are actually caught. You know, driving through these um tight um drive through maneuvers. I would say so very interesting so guys. Let me know what you think: um looks like gmc and hummer are actually in moab and doing some real world testing uh. They told me when i was in michigan that the first kind of concept meetings for this truck and suv happened in april 2019. Just about two years ago, and now and that's not a very long time and kind of development life cycle for a major manufacturer like this. So in two years they came from an idea to a driving prototype that you see right there and also on tfltruck.com. Another tfl viewer sent us an image of it. Charging of these trucks actually two of them charging at a charging station somewhere in moab. Also so they're using public charging to fill up and probably do some more off roading so as always go back to tfltruck.com or tfl offroad.com for all the latest news views and kind of this, these spy prototype hunting videos.
