The Seat Mii 36.8kWh Electric Car: A Review and Real-World Range Test
Exterior and Interior
The Seat Mii is a compact and stylish electric car that offers a modern design. Despite being a couple of years old with only 1400 miles on it, the Mii still maintains its overall newness. Its recent sale for fifteen thousand pounds makes it one of the more affordable options in the electric car market. The vehicle’s compact size and low mileage make it an attractive choice for city driving.
Efficiency and Performance
One of the standout features of the Seat Mii is its exceptional efficiency. In previous tests conducted at commuting speeds and cross country, the Mii proved to be the most efficient electric vehicle tested, averaging over seven miles per kilowatt. This efficiency makes it an ideal choice for those looking to minimize their carbon footprint and reduce energy consumption.
However, to truly understand its performance, we will embark on a longer journey outside the city. Tomorrow morning, our colleague will take us on this journey, and we will evaluate how the Mii performs in real-world conditions.
Versatility and Battery
The Seat Mii is equipped with a 36.8 kilowatt-hour battery, which is impressive for a car of its size. It surpasses many other small electric cars on the market in terms of battery capacity. The Mii shares its platform and shape with the VW E-up and Skoda Citigo, adding to its overall versatility.
Other small city car. The body design is simple and straightforward, lacking any unique or futuristic features that would distinguish it as an electric vehicle.
Interior Features and Technology
Moving inside the Seat Mii, you’ll find a compact yet functional cabin. The seats are comfortable and supportive, the dashboard is well laid out, and there’s enough room for four passengers. The materials used in the cabin are of decent quality, although there are some hard plastics that remind you of its affordable price tag.
In terms of technology, the Mii comes equipped with a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. While it may not be the most advanced or feature-packed system, it does the job and provides easy access to navigation, media, and connectivity options. It’s worth noting that higher trims may offer additional features such as smartphone integration and advanced safety systems.
Performance and Range
Now, let’s talk about the most important aspect of any electric vehicle: its range and performance. The Seat Mii is powered by a 36.8 kWh battery, which is a significant improvement over its earlier versions. With an average energy efficiency of 7.1 miles per kilowatt-hour, the Mii is capable of delivering a range of over 200 miles on a single charge.
However, it’s important to note that driving conditions and speed can greatly affect the range of an electric car. Higher speeds on the motorway tend to be less efficient for electric vehicles due to increased energy consumption. This is something that will be tested in a later video by my colleague.
Exterior Design and Aerodynamics
While the Seat Mii may not be the most aerodynamic car on the market, it still has a charming and likable design. The front of the car features fog lights and traditional headlights with old-school bulbs. It may not have the fancy Matrix LEDs or dynamic lighting systems found in some high-end vehicles, but it gets the job done.
The Mii’s side profile remains similar to its petrol-engine counterparts, with no major design changes. It doesn’t scream “electric” at first glance, but the small electric badge on the side does indicate its eco-friendly powertrain.

Interior and Key Features
Inside the Mii, familiar VW design elements can be seen. The car is equipped with two keys – one for remote locking and the other in a standard form. Unlike other electric cars, the Mii requires you to insert the key into the ignition and turn it to start the car. This may feel familiar to those accustomed to combustion vehicles.
The interior features are simple yet functional. The VW and Skoda versions have slightly different trims, but overall, they offer a similar feel. Lane Assist and Airbags
One of the features that the Seat Mii 36.8kwh electric car offers is Lane Assist. While Lane Assist can be annoying in some cars, the Seat Mii provides a simple button to turn it off, which is convenient for those who prefer not to use it.
In terms of safety, this car is equipped with several airbags. It has front airbags for both the driver and the passenger. Interestingly, the airbag on the front passenger side can be deactivated using a switch located on the driver’s door. Additionally, there are curtain airbags in the pillars, as well as airbags in the seats. This demonstrates that Seat has prioritized safety by including multiple airbags.
Impressive Safety Measures
With the presence of airbags in the pillars, seats, and both the driver and front passenger sides, the Seat Mii 36.8kwh is designed to provide optimal safety for its occupants. Although it is a small car, it offers a sufficient number of airbags to ensure protection in case of a crash. The inclusion of such safety features allows drivers to have peace of mind while on the road.
Additional Features
Apart from safety features, the Seat Mii 36.8kwh electric car comes with other commendable additions. For instance, it has cruise control, which is quite impressive considering the size of the vehicle. This feature allows for a more relaxed and comfortable driving experience, especially on long journeys.
Another noteworthy feature is the presence of a proper heated windscreen. Unlike some other manufacturers who provide warm air on the windscreen, Seat has incorporated actual heating elements into the windscreen. This ensures that the windscreen remains clear and frost-free, enhancing visibility during colder weather conditions.
A Fun and Responsive Driving Experience
When it comes to performance, the Seat Mii 36.8kwh electric car does not disappoint. It has a front-wheel drive system and offers plenty of torque and power. This means that acceleration at junctions is smooth and effortless. The car’s agility and responsive handling make it feel like a go-kart on the road.
Overall, the Seat Mii 36.8kwh electric car delivers an array of impressive features. From Lane Assist and multiple airbags for safety to cruise control and a heated windscreen for convenience, this car offers a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. Its small size does not compromise its performance, making it an ideal option for those seeking a compact electric vehicle.
Performance and Handling
The Seat Mii 36.8kWh electric car is a great little rocket on the road. It feels even quicker than its naught to 60 time suggests. In city driving, it proves to be brilliantly quick and perfect for darting in and out of traffic. The car feels solid and stable, providing a confident driving experience. However, on some country roads, you may notice that it feels a bit spongy and bouncy due to its soft suspension and damping. Nonetheless, it still does a pretty good job considering its size. In terms of overall driving experience, the Seat Mii feels more mature than what its external dimensions may suggest.
Space and Comfort
At the front of the car, there is an adjustable steering wheel, although it only adjusts for height and not reach. Despite this limitation, it is still possible to find a nice and comfortable driving position. The seat offers height adjustment but lacks lumbar adjustment. Nevertheless, the driving position remains comfortable, and visibility is pretty good. There is a small bit in the car that blocks some of the view, but it is manageable. The seats, while not the most supportive, are functional and practical. They may not be designed for hard cornering, but they serve their purpose well. The car also comes equipped with electric wing mirror adjustment, electric front windows, and manual headlights.
Range and Efficiency
One of the most important aspects of an electric car is its real-world range. The Seat Mii 36.8kWh electric car, along with its counterparts the Skoda Citigo and VW E-up, offers a respectable range. In real-world driving conditions, the car is capable of covering a decent distance on a single charge. This makes it a practical option for daily commuting or running errands around town. While the exact range may vary depending on driving style and conditions, the Seat Mii’s range is generally considered to be adequate for most daily needs.
The Seat Mii 36.8kwh Electric Car Review
Exterior Design
The Seat Mii 36.8kwh electric car, which is essentially the same as the Skoda Citigo and VW E-up, offers a simplistic yet appealing design. The front end showcases its headlights, which provide sufficient luminosity for night-time driving. Moving towards the rear, there is not much to discuss, apart from a small glove box. Nevertheless, the overall design is compact and visually pleasing.
Practicality Test
For practicality, I tested the car’s interior space. As a six-foot-tall driver, I adjusted the seat to ensure my comfort. Surprisingly, getting into the back seat was relatively easy, although space is limited. However, the headrest can be adjusted for added comfort, and I found it to have potentially more room than a Peugeot e208. Overall, the Seat Mii offers decent practicality for its size.
Interior Features
Inside the car, the layout is simple and user-friendly. Seat belts are available on each side of the back seat, and there is also the option for Isofix for child seats. However, it’s worth noting that the car is a four-seater and lacks a seat belt for the middle seat. Additionally, there is a central transmission tunnel that may hinder legroom for rear passengers.
Real-World Range Test
Now, let’s discuss the real-world range of the Seat Mii 36.8kwh electric car. During my test, I found that the car offered an impressive range, allowing for extended journeys without the need for frequent charging. The battery capacity of 36.8 kWh provides ample power, and the car’s efficiency allows for a smooth and comfortable ride.
Comfort and Interior Features
No armrest pulled down or anything like that, but actually my feet fit under the seat in front and I’m pretty comfortable, really I am. The headroom is also sufficient and just in front of the side, there are airbags. I’ve got a coat hook for hanging a jacket or something. The windows are tinted but don’t lower down using electrical window switches. Instead, I’ve got to lean over my shoulder and I can just tip them open a little bit. This reminds me of the old Peugeot 205 I had as a student. It’s surprising that there are no proper opening windows in the back, but the space is actually okay and it’s a charming little thing.
Boot Space
The Seat Mii has a power tailgate instead of a manual one. The boot space is not vast but it has a practical shape with a nice square design at the back. There’s plenty of room for a few bags and even a small dog. The back seats can be dropped down to extend the practicality. There’s also a removable parcel shelf that creates a usable little space. The car features a rear wiper, heated glass, tinted rear window, and reversing sensors, making it as practical as it can be for a small package.
Front Storage
Unfortunately, there is no storage under the front of the car.
The Seat Mii 36.8kWh Electric Car: A Review and Real-World Range Test
The Seat Mii 36.8kWh electric car might not be the most powerful vehicle on the road, with its electric motor delivering around 82 horsepower to the front wheels. However, don’t let its modest power output fool you, as this little electric car can still go from 0 to 60 mph in just over 12 seconds, with a top speed of over 80 mph.
Charging Options and Ports
When it comes to charging, the Seat Mii offers two options. The first is the Type 2 connection, which is commonly used for home charging. This connection allows you to charge the car’s battery at a slower pace, perfect for overnight charging. The second option is the DC charging port, which utilizes a CCS connection for rapid charging. This is ideal for when you’re on the go and need a quick top-up of power.
Real-World Range Test
To determine the Seat Mii’s real-world range, we conducted two scenarios: commuting and motorway driving. Commuting and driving on country roads tend to be more efficient for electric cars, so we anticipated better results in those scenarios. However, motorway driving is typically less efficient due to wind resistance and other factors.
The Mii’s battery has a gross capacity of 36.8 kilowatt-hours, but the usable capacity is around 32.3-33 kilowatt-hours. We wanted to see how far it could go in both the best and worst case scenarios.
One of our testers embarked on a 127-mile journey from New Milton to Northampton. The trip took just over two and a half hours, and they arrived at their destination with 7% battery remaining. The average consumption for this journey was 5 kWh per mile.
